3 Years is way too long man! We’re ready for you. Married 31 years. Congrats. Yeah, Jon’s been there 40-some years, but if he tells you he remembers you from your wedding dinner, he’s a liar. Haha. I’m randomly at Whiskey Liquor Up on Monday afternoons revolving around laughing at Scott R playing pickle tubs in one of those performance circles below. So, if you’re around, shout out, shots will flow!
]]>Thanks for the tips, I will certainly look them up, I think we may end up in the Downtown area both nights, we play poker at The Golden Nugget. Hugo’s is where we had our wedding dinner 31 years ago, Simmons is great, I also like Vince, and Dean the bartender is a gas… I have not visited your fabulous city in 3 years, so I am jazzed to go…
]]>Imma go way out on a limb here, so forgive me if I cross a line… Hugo’s is insanely great (Simmons is my fave LV sommelier), but they’re not on LV Restaurant Wk. The Golden Steer in the Beverly Green neighborhood is, tho, and their Prime Rib is (in my opinion) better than any I’ve had downtown. It’s cooked so slowly that the fats render into the meat better while still keeping that pink doneness. The rib is a step above say, Oscar’s. (I used to live in a high-rise by the Steer) Afterwards, pop into the Mint next door for some local fun. It’s just a blue-collar joint for hardened Las Vegans, with memorabilia from the old Mint downtown. They have a small show bar with a magician and sometimes old-school dancing (google them for sched). You’re easy walking distance to the Strat, Sahara and Cookies dispensary from there for more mainstream stuff without needing 6 Uber trips. If you like Karaoke, don’t forget that the world famous dive bar “Dino’s” is just a few blocks up LV Blvd. Yes, the regulars are a bit crusty in there, and it can be rough, but Karaoke packs the place with locals on Thurs Fri.
