Comedian Pete Davidson will perform standup at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Sat., September 23. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, August 11 via Ticketmaster.
Davidson will be fresh from a stint in a Pennsylvania rehab that he checked himself into in June, according to multiple sources.
Three months earlier, the 29-year-old crashed a Mercedes into a Beverly Hills home that had to be demolished afterward. At the time of the accident, police sources told TMZ that they didn’t believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Davidson wasn’t arrested, though he was charged with reckless driving in June.
More recently, Davidson was forced to apologize to the head of animal rights lobbyist PETA for leaving her an obscenity-laced voicemail message.
Pete regularly goes to rehab for tune ups and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” the New York Post quoted an unnamed friend of his as saying.
Davidson reportedly suffers from borderline personality disorder and PTSD. He was only seven when his firefighter father, Scott, died while trying to save lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The tragedy informs “The King of Staten Island,” the semi-autobiographical 2020 movie Davidson co-wrote with its director and producer, Judd Apatow.
While known for his acting in movies and on “Saturday Night Live,” Davidson has been performing standup since he was 16. His big break came on Comedy Central’s “Gotham Comedy Live” in 2014, the same year he started on “SNL.”
Hold the Phone!
According to the Cosmopolitan, Davidson’s show will be phone-free, which is becoming the norm at high-profile comedy shows.
Because comics don’t want videos of their act leaked onto YouTube, they require guests to secure their phones and smartwatches in a Yondr pouch upon arriving at the venue. This thick synthetic pouch can only be opened by a device operated by venue staff.
Guests carry the pouch with them at all times and can only have them opened in designated phone-use areas of the venue. Those caught using phones outside the designated areas will be escorted out of the venue without a refund.
